Occupational health and safety (OHSMS) is an essential aspect of any organization’s operations. It ensures the well-being of employees and promotes a safe and healthy working environment. The ISO 45001:2018 standard provides a framework for organisations to manage their OHSMS risks and improve overall performance. As a lead auditor, you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively audit and certify an organization’s OHSMS.
This course provides delegates with fundamental knowledge of assessment skills that will add value to organizations. This course complies with PR 357 criteria. Successful completion of the course fulfils the formal training requirement for individuals seeking third-party assessments.
Knowledge:
● Explain the purpose of an occupational health & safety management system, of occupational health & safety management system standards, of management system audit, of third party certification, and the business benefits of improved performance of the occupational health & safety management system. ● Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an occupational health & Safety management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1.
Skills:
Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of an occupational health & safety management system to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 45001 and in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1 where appropriate.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who is or aspires to be: ● A Third Party Assessor or Lead Assessor of ISO 45001:2018 ● Responsible for undertaking audits of suppliers/subcontractors as per ISO 45001:2018 ● Responsible for implementing internal audits and audit programs as per ISO 45001:2018 ● Responsible for implementing the ISO 45001 series of standards
Course Outline:
Course starts at 0830 hrs and ends approximately at 1800 hrs. Maximum attendance 10 delegates per tutor.
Pre-course information is sent to delegates approximately a week prior to the beginning of the course (subject to the fee paid).
The course is highly participative and will enable delegates to build on existing skills. Emphasis is based on practical application of assessment knowledge and skills. Realistic case studies allow delegates to apply skills and knowledge to all stages of the assessment process.
Criteria of Eligibility:
Some specific OH&S knowledge and Min. 4 years working experience is required. This is an intensive course. Before starting this course, students are expected to have the following prior knowledge:
a). Management Systems: The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle. ● The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.
b). Occupational health & safety management ● The concepts of managing occupational health and safety through hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control and compliance with legal requirements and other requirements. ● The relationship between occupational health and safety management and the provision of safe and healthy workplaces, the prevention of work-related injury and ill health, and the proactive improvement of health and safety performance. ● Common examples of relevant national and local OH&S legislation and requirements
c). ISO 45001 Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 45001 and the commonly used occupational health & safety management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 45001, which may be gained by completing a ISO 45001:2018 Foundation OHSMS training course or the equivalent.
d).Upon registration at the course in the beginning there will be a Pre-Questionnaire test to check the prior knowledge and understanding of the delegates.
