ISO 14001:2015 is an international standard for an effective environmental management system (EMS) that helps organizations identify, control, and improve environmental performance. It can meet legal requirements, reduce environmental impact, and provide a competitive advantage. Individuals who understand and work within an EMS based on ISO 14001:2015 can contribute to the organization’s overall environmental performance. A Lead Auditor course for ISO 14001:2015 covers the standard’s requirements, principles, and processes of environmental management systems and auditing, as well as how to plan, conduct, report, and follow up on environmental management system audits in accordance with ISO 19011.
The course provides fundamental assessment skills that add value to organizations and meets PR 315 criteria. Successful completion of the course fulfills the formal training requirement for individuals seeking Third Party Assessments.
By the end of this course you are expected to be able to get the:
Knowledge:
● Explain the purpose of an environmental management system and the business and societal benefits of improving environmental performance. ● Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an environmental management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011.
Skills:
● Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of an environmental management system to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 14001 and in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate).
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who is or aspires to be: ● A Third Party Assessor or Lead Assessor of ISO 14001:2015 ● Responsible for undertaking audits of suppliers/subcontractors as per ISO 14001:2015 ● Responsible for implementing internal audits and audit programs as per ISO 14001:2015 ● Responsible for implementing the ISO 14001 series of standards
Course Outline:
Course starts at 0830 hrs and ends approximately at 1800 hrs. Maximum attendance 10 delegates per tutor.
Pre-course information is sent to delegates approximately a week prior to the beginning of the course (subject to the fee paid).
The course is highly participative and will enable delegates to build on existing skills. Emphasis is based on practical application of assessment knowledge and skills. Realistic case studies allow delegates to apply skills and knowledge to all stages of the assessment process.
Criteria of Eligibility:
Some specific EMS knowledge and Min. 4 years working experience is required. This is an intensive course.
Before starting this course, students are expected to have the following prior knowledge:
a). Management Systems: ● The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle. ● The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.
b). Environmental Management ● The intended outcomes of an environmental management system: ● Enhancement of environmental performance ● Fulfillment of compliance obligations ● Achievement of environmental objectives.
c). ISO 14001 Knowledge Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 14001 and the commonly used environmental management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 14001, which may be gained by completing a Certified ISO 14001:2015 Foundation (EMS) training course or the equivalent.
d).Upon registration at the course in the beginning there will be a Pre-Questionnaire test to check the prior knowledge and understanding of the delegates.
