Course Description:

This course provides delegates with fundamental knowledge of assessment skills that will add value to organizations. This course complies with PR 359 criteria.
Successful completion of the course fulfils the formal training requirement for individuals seeking Third Party Assessments.

By the end of this course you are expected to be able to get the:

Knowledge:

Explain the purpose of a food safety management system, of food safety management systems standards and the business benefits of the improved performance of the food safety management system.
Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a food safety management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 22003 including ISO 17021 as applicable.

Skills:

Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of a food safety management system to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 22000, or acceptable equivalent, and in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 22003 including ISO 17021 as applicable

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who is or aspires to be:
A Third-Party Assessor or Lead Assessor of ISO 22000:2018
Responsible for undertaking audits of suppliers/subcontractors as per ISO 22000:2018
Responsible for implementing internal audits and audit programs as per ISO 22000:2018
Responsible for implementing the ISO 22000 series of standards

Course Outline:

Course starts at 0830 Hrs and ends approximately at 1800 hrs. Maximum attendance 12 delegates per tutor and maximum 20 delegates with 2 tutors.
Pre-course information is sent to delegates approximately a week prior to the beginning of the course (subject to the fee paid).
The course is highly participative and will enable delegates to build on existing skills. Emphasis is based on practical application of assessment knowledge and skills. Realistic case studies allow delegates to apply skills and knowledge to all stages of the assessment process.

Criteria of Eligibility:

Some specific Food Safety knowledge and Min. 4 years working experience is required. This is an intensive course.

Before starting this course, students are expected to have the following prior knowledge:

a). Management Systems:
The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle.
The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.

b). Food Safety Management
The Explain the relationship between the prerequisite programs specified in ISO/TS 22002 and ISO 22000.
Explain the PDCA cycle and its application to food safety management processes.
Outline the processes involved in establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, measuring, analyzing, evaluating, reviewing, maintaining and improving a food safety management system, including the significance of these for FSMS auditors.
Explain the terms and definitions used in ISO 22000.
State the requirements for FSMS documentation and explain the difference between maintaining and retaining documented information.

c). ISO 22000
Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22000 and the commonly used Food Safety management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 22000, which may be gained by completing a Certified ISO 22000:2018 Foundation training course or the equivalent.

d). Upon registration at the course in the beginning there will be a Pre-Questionnaire test to check the prior knowledge and understanding of the delegates.
